Physiotherapy Services

Our physiotherapists help people improve movement, strength and physical function. they support you to manage pain or long term conditions and provide simple exercises and strategies you can use day to day to stay active and independent.

Physiotherapy services for NDIS participants and private clients

Humanity Allied Health’s physiotherapists specialise in improving movement and physical function for NDIS participants and private clients through exercise, movement and hands on therapy such as deep tissue massage and joint mobilisation.
Our NDIS physiotherapists will provide a thorough assessment of your overall physical function and ability to complete activities of daily living (ADLs). Using this information, our therapists will develop movement programs that can help to improve strength, balance, mobility, or pain management.

Physiotherapy tailored to your needs

Our Humanity Allied Health physiotherapists can see you or your participant at home, at school, in the community, in one of our clinics or via online sessions. We offer flexible service delivery to suit individual needs, preferences and circumstances.

For some people, personal challenges, travel or logistics make online sessions a more practical option, with the added benefit of faster access to physiotherapists who may not be based in the same city. We can travel to a location that works best for you, or where appropriate, provide sessions in one of our clinics.

What does Physiotherapy look like under the NDIS?

Our physiotherapists provide a thorough holistic assessment of a participant’s overall physical function and ability to complete activities of daily living (ADLs), and provide functional capacity building interventions to achieve their NDIS goals, for example exercise programs, education and pain management strategies.

When is a Physiotherapy assessment or intervention program warranted?

  • When the participant has mobility issues, including difficulty with walking, stair climbing, transfers, etc.
  • When the participant has reduced functional tolerance in sitting, standing, walking, stairs, reaching or lifting that impacts their ability to complete activities of daily living (ADLs) and level of independence.
  • When the participant has balance or coordination issues impacting functional tasks or mobility, for example their ability to participate safely in the community.
  • When the participant is reporting pain or is unable to manage their pain, impacting day to day function, ADLs and ability to engage in the community.
  • If the participant requires prescription of braces or aids.

Physiotherapy vs Exercise Physiology:

  • Exercise physiologists (EPs) are more focused on exercise from a fitness perspective as opposed to a functional or activities of daily living perspective, i.e. the participant may already have satisfactory function but may have comorbidities impacting their cardiovascular fitness and general health.
  • EPs are able to prescribe exercise programs. Physiotherapists are also able to prescribe exercise programs, but can additionally provide manual therapy, for example joint mobilisations and soft or deep tissue massage.
