Positive Behaviour Support

If certain behaviours are putting you or others at risk, our behavioural support practitioners can help you understand what’s behind them and work towards reducing them. The focus always is on your independence, safety and quality of life.

Understanding Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Our positive behaviour support practitioners work with you to build skills that help reduce challenging behaviours and support a better quality of life.

We’ll start by assessing your functional behaviours as an NDIS participant. From there, using evidence-based strategies, we develop a behaviour support plan tailored to you, aimed at reducing behaviours of concern.

How Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) works

Strategies can include building routines, teaching new behaviours and responses, self-soothing techniques and psycho-education. Your support team will also receive training, so they can help you put your new plan into practice and reduce the use of restrictive practice. Our behaviour support practitioners will keep monitoring your progress, working towards the outcomes you want.

With Humanity Allied Health, you can access a full range of NDIS services under one roof. This includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, occupational therapy functional assessment, psychology, counselling and speech therapy. Our allied health professionals work together to support you through every part of your journey.

How our PBS practitioners support you:

  • Assess your needs and create an individualised behaviour support plan
  • Work with you one on one to build skills like emotional regulation
  • Train the people around you, so everyone takes a consistent approach to behaviours of concern
  • Help you understand and navigate the legislative requirements around restrictive practices

Positive Behaviour Support that meets you where you are

You can meet with our behavioural support practitioners in a way that suits you, whether that’s at home, at school, in the community or through online sessions, in both regional and city areas. Service delivery is flexible, so we can shape it around your needs, preferences and circumstances.

Online sessions can also be more practical if travel, logistics or personal challenges get in the way. They can open up support from behavioural support practitioners who aren’t based in your area, which can be useful if local options are limited. If you’d prefer, we can travel to a location that suits you, or arrange sessions in one of our clinics.

Funding Options

You don’t need a referral to book our services.
Our therapy and allied health services can be funded through NDIS, Medicare or other government programs, or you can book privately and pay yourself.

Our services are provided in line with the NDIS pricing arrangements, meaning there’s no gap fee.

If you want fast access without paperwork, our private sessions put you in control of your healthcare journey. We offer flexible funding options to make therapy simple and accessible.
