Accredited exercise physiologists (AEPs) are therapists who help people manage or prevent chronic disease or injury, and restore them to optimal health.
Humanity Allied Health’s accredited exercise physiologists (AEPs) specialise in creating and delivering safe and effective exercise programs for participants at risk of, or diagnosed with disabilities, illnesses and conditions related to aging, and chronic medical conditions, including complex conditions.
We assess and evaluate how well you can perform activities required for your day-to-day life, devising a plan that encompasses your goals and optimises and improves your health, making it easier for you to engage in activities at home, school, work, and in the community.
Our goal is to support you to manage your health conditions more effectively and improve your overall quality of life. We work with you to build the skills and strategies you need to feel more confident, independent, and engaged in the activities that matter most to you.
Our exercise physiologists work with participants in a number of settings in regional and city centres, including at home, school, community location or via online sessions. Our services are provided in line with the NDIS price guide, meaning there’s no gap fee.
Flexible, personalised care:
In clinic, mobile or online
Our Humanity Allied Health’s accredited exercise physiologists (AEPs) can see you or your participant at home, at school, in the community, in one of our clinics or via online sessions. We offer flexible service delivery to suit individual needs, preferences and circumstances.
For some people, personal challenges, travel or logistics make online sessions a more practical option, with the added benefit of faster access to exercise physiologists who may not be based in the same city. We can travel to a location that works best for you, or where appropriate, provide sessions in one of our clinics.
Accredited Exercise Physiologists are dual accredited allied health professionals, also holding accreditation
as an exercise scientist (AES), and are registered with ESSA, our governing body.
AEPs are recognised allied health professionals specialising in clinical assessment, design and delivery of exercise
interventions for a broad range of conditions including cancer, cardiovascular, metabolic, neurological,
musculoskeletal, kidney, respiratory / pulmonary, mental health, and any other conditions for which there
is evidence that exercise can improve the client’s clinical status.
The aims of AEP interventions are to prevent or manage acute, sub-acute or chronic disease or injury, and assist
in restoring one’s optimal physical function, health or wellness.
AEPs work within many different environments such as hospitals, private and multidisciplinary clinics, communities, aged care, research and sport.
AEPs can assist with:
• Goal setting and strategies for physical
activity participation
• Physiological health screening and assessment
• Mobility and falls prevention/intervention
• Improving functional/physical independence
• Preventative exercise prescription
• Weight management
• Exercise intervention for a range of chronic
and complex health conditions
• Exercise education to build toward self-managed
exercise participation
